Help us to survey the marine mammals living in the New Caledonian lagoon

Fill in this form and send it to Opération Cétacés BP12827 Nouméa, New Caledonia. All information and photos are useful. Even if they don't look good, they can help us to identify a species or an individual.
Information gathered from these questionaires has so far enabled us to identify 14 cetacean species present in New Caledonia (Garrigue et Greaves, 2001). This information also enabled us to determine the period during which humpback whale are present in the New Caledonian lagoon (Garrigue et Gill, 1994).
Information gathered helps us to:
  • continue our survey of cetacean species present in the lagoon;
  • gain more information on the distribution of different species within the lagoon;
  • evaluate the seasonal changes in distribution and abundance;
  • learn more about the behaviour and interactions of these species.
